Philadephia Area Java Users' Group

It's his first blog (not a word if it's dry)

I’ve never blogged, personally or professionally (let alone ‘JUGmasterly’), but I thought it would be a good idea to share some thoughts with the group without requiring me to send out 1,000 pieces of e-mail and a blog seemed like a natural way to do that.

I intend to use this blog as a way to share some ideas about the JUG, perhaps mention some thoughts about how to improve the JUG, maybe leak some info regarding speakers I’m wooing or topics that JUG members are suggesting. It’s also a good place to give some ‘shout outs’ to our supporters and some feedback on past meetings.

For those of you that missed the February meeting with Kelly Campbell of Google, the presentation was well received and the attendance was great! We had about 120 members show up which would probably make it about the 3rd or 4th largest meeting we’ve ever had – I know we had over 150 for Marc Fleury and Gavin King and just a bit less for one of the Sun roadshows a couple years ago. This was the first meeting I remember where we actually ran out of pizza and subs – sorry to those of you who left hungry, but I think only a few people didn’t get to eat.

Special thanks to Kelly, Google, and Curt from Unisys for making the event a huge success. I’m hoping to make Kelly’s slides available for download on the website.

Until next time!
Dave
